Dear Parents and Guardians,

Every ten years public high schools in New England conduct an accreditation process through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). NEASC visits schools to evaluate their performance in several key areas: Academic, Leadership, School Climate, School Environment, and Services. This is an extremely important process because it allows us to take a close look at the quality of our school and the work we perform with our students. The accreditation process consists of three main stages.

During the first stage, each school must evaluate and update its core values and beliefs and learning expectations along with conducting a self-study. The self-study process continues for approximately two years. It is a time when the staff reflects on our strengths and our areas needing improvement.

Stage two of the accreditation process occurs when a visiting committee, consisting of fourteen to eighteen educators from New England, will visit Blackstone-Millville Regional High School for four days. This is scheduled to take place in October 2015. At that time the visiting committee will examine all aspects of the high school, will review our self-study and will write a detailed analysis of their findings of the high school. This is a very helpful and objective view of our school prepared by people who are knowledgeable about the educational process.

Stage three of the process will then have the faculty and staff responsible for examining this report and to address their recommendations. The school will implement the recommendations in order to improve our delivery of instruction to our students.

Thank you.
