Blackstone Elementary Parents Organization (BEPO) – You’re Invited!

Welcome Back parents, students and guardians of JFK and AFM! Another summer has passed us by and we are looking forward to an EVENT FILLED 2009-2010 school year!

You are cordially invited to get involved with BEPO this year. Don’t be afraid – we are a very welcoming group.
BEPO meetings are usually held the first Monday of each month in the A.F. Maloney cafeteria starting at 7:15pm and we try to keep the meetings to an hour in length.
All parents and teachers of the JFK/AFM complex are invited to attend. We will be planning some old standby events and some new and exciting events too. You may contact Kerry Olson or Melissa MacKinnon if you have an agenda item suggestion. Please mark your calendars and participate as often as possible.

Fall Fundraiser

The Genevieve Company has been voted as our fundraising supplier of choice for September. They have some new and fun ideas to make participating fun! The sale dates will be September 8th through September 22nd. All of the proceeds from this fundraiser go directly to the JFK/AFM complex to fund field trips, in-school assemblies, afterschool focus clubs, recess game bins and special events as requested by staff. Watch the “back pack mail” for more details!

If you do not wish to purchase any of the fall fundraising items, you can always make a donation directly to BEPO instead.
Checks can be made payable to BEPO and sent to school “Attention BEPO FUNDRAISER”.

Volunteer Opportunities

BEPO is ALWAYS looking for new volunteers to be part of our exciting work each year. Volunteering is easy - attend a BEPO meeting to help make decisions or volunteer to assist in upcoming scheduled events. Many hands make for less work and we all know how over-scheduled we are! We have increased our membership year after year – let’s make this school year our highest level of participation ever!

BEPO has decided to continue the 2 Hour Power Volunteer program. More information will be sent home via back pack mail at the start of school. We are asking each person to volunteer a minimum of 2 hours over the entire school year. Please contact Justine Jacome if you want to be added to the “BEPO Blast” email list to hear about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.

All volunteers working an event or in direct contact with the students must have a valid CORI check completed. Forms can be obtained from the JFK or AFM office and must be completed in person. However, YOU DO NOT NEED A CORI FORM TO ATTEND A BEPO MEETING!
