Past Successes – Thanks to Everyone Who Made These Events Possible!
2008 – 2009 School Year
Events held throughout the year:
September:
2 Hour Power Volunteer Program – a little quieter this year, but still going strong
Genevieve Fall Fundraiser – over $15,000 raised this year
Family Apple Picking – over 100 people enjoyed an afternoon at Wojcik’s Farm
October:
Box Tops 4 Education Drive – 5,000+ box tops collected
Fall Festival – our first ever with 10 vendors and over 50 kids and adults enjoying the day
November:
Food Drive – over 800 cans of food collected and delivered to the Blackstone-Millville food pantry
December:
Cookies and Milk with Santa – over 140 family and friends enjoyed a snack, craft and meeting Santa
Santa’s Secret Workshop – 5 days of volunteers working while children shopped for family gifts
January:
Snowflake Bingo – a great success – lots of families in attendance
February:
Worcester Sharks Family Night – event planned with MESPA – almost 100 people attended
March:
Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser – over $6,000 raised this year
Boys’ Bowling Event – approximately 125 boys and guests enjoyed an evening of bowling and arcade fun
Family Movie Night – close to 300 people attended, great family fun
April:
Girls’ K-3 Hoe Down Dance – approximately 200 girls and guests had a ball dancing the night away
May:
Staff Appreciation Week – 5 days of gifts and goodies for the over 100 staff at JFK and AFM
Internet Safety Night – Safety information distributed to k-5 grade parents
Paw Sox Family Night – over 125 tickets sold to this popular family event
Jeff Nathan Family Poet – over 50 parents and kids enjoyed some funny, silly poems
Ice cream treats for 3rd-5th grade after MCAS testing
Girls’ 4-5 Bowling Event – girls and their guests have purchased tickets for an afternoon of bowling
June:
Food Drive – scheduled for the first week of June – we are hoping to collect 1,000 items
5th grade Field Day – will provide ice cream and special t-shirts for each student
BEPO raised funds and paid for the following throughout the year:
Indoor recess game bins for grades 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Party and participation metals for Mr. Isenberg’s 4th grade Running Club
Purchased additional Ellison Die Cuts for the school machine
Purchased more walkie talkies to improve communication on school grounds
Purchased additional outdoor recess balls and jump ropes for all grades
Kindergarten in-house field trip
First grade field trip and buses to Southwick’s Zoo
Second grade field trip and buses to New England Aquarium
Third grade field trip and buses to Plimoth Plantation
Fourth grade field trip and buses to Trinity Rep
Fifth grade field trip and buses to Sturbridge Village
Bee Man in school assembly for first grade
Story teller in school assembly for second grade
Jeff Nathan, Poet, in school assembly for grades K-5
After School Focus Clubs
Student folders for K-5 and student planners for grades 3-5
Museum of Science in school assembly for 4th and 5th grade
