     Latitude

Lines of latitude are the imaginary lines that go around the world from east to west. The equator is the imaginary line that runs from east to west and is directly in the center of the Earth.

In between the lines of latitude are the middle latitudes, the high latitudes, and the low latitudes. The low latitudes are located between 23 ½ degrees S and the equator and between 23 ½ degrees N and the equator. The middle latitudes are located between 66 ½ degrees S and 23 ½ degrees S and between 23 ½ degrees N and 66 ½ degrees N.  The high latitudes are located between the North Pole and 66 ½ degrees N and between the South Pole and 66 ½ degrees S.
