Rocks and Minerals

 

 

  1. Streak is a mineral property. It is the color of the powder left behind when you rub a mineral against a white tile.
  2. Luster is a mineral property. It describes the way the surface of a mineral reflects light.

3.  Hardness is a mineral property.  It is a mineral’s ability to resist being scratched.  

4.    We use mineral to make jewelry, coins, metal objects, plaster, and wires.

5.   There are 3 types of rocks (igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic).

6.   Igneous rock form when melted rock hardens.

7.   Sedimentary rocks form over a long period of time.

8.     Metamorphic rocks form when a rock is put under great heat and pressure.

9.   Rocks can change over time.

10. In the rock cycle, rocks change form one kind of rock to another.
