Have you ever read Holes by Louis Sachar? Are you frightened of snakes? Then wait for the dreaded yellow spotted lizards. Stanley Yelnats, the fourth, is under a curse from his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. Stanley is, convicted of stealing a pair of Clyde Livingston’s shoes, so he has a choice between going to jail or Camp Green Lake. Stanley chooses Camp Green Lake. Camp Green Lake is a camp for boys who are a threat to society. He meets these boys who have nicknames like Zero, X-Ray, Zig- Zag, and Armpit. What would your nickname be? Some kids think they are digging for character which means digging to learn from their mistakes. Stanley thinks something different. The Warden is looking for something, but what? Is that why these kids are digging 5 x 5 holes?

I think this book was very well written. If you have read the Wayside School books, you’ll love another one of Louis Sachar wonderful creations!
