B.M.R. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTS FIFTEEN NEW MEMBERS

The annual induction ceremony for the Blackstone-Millville Chapter of the National Honor Society was held recently in the Molony-Sullivan Auditorium at the Blackstone-Millville Regional High School.

Students were inducted at the traditional candle lighting ceremony run by the present NHS officers which include Jason Berthelette, President; Tara Breault, vice-president; Holly Bik, secretary; and Stephanie Mandeville, treasurer. The keynote speaker was Joanne Archetto, Blackstone Library Director. Music was provided by the school's Brass Choir under the direction of Ronald Pouliot. The ceremony was coordinated by Mark E. Campopiano, NHS advisor. The new officers for next year were installed at the ceremony. They are: Lindsay Karloff, President; Matthew Kankash, vice-president; Eric Atstupenas, treasurer; Jennie Rivet, Secretary; and Brent Gilbert, Historian/Service Coordinator.

The following students were inducted:
From the senior class: Lindsay Bulso and Kimberly Chabot.
From the junior class: Jennie Rivet, Justine Glaude and Adam Tenerowicz.
From the sophomore class: Andrew Abbondanza, Stephanie Bibbo, Tanya Breault, Nicole Brunelle, Tanya Cotnoir, Mitchell Foley, Jared Ganis, Steven Lindstrom, Brian Pouliot, Kevin Randall, Jennifer Rheaume, and Kristen Stefanik.

Following the ceremony, the new inductees and their guests were treated to pastries and coffee by the National Junior Honor Society.

To be eligible for membership consideration, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 90 percent or better. Additionally, potential members must meet high standards of leadership, service, and character. Leadership is based on the student's participation in community and school activities, or election to an office. To meet the service requirement, the student must have been active in service projects in the school and community. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics, and cooperation with both students and faculty.

The information packets filled out by candidates are screened by the faculty council. Students must then be formally inducted at the ceremony to gain official membership.
