MISSION STATEMENT

Blackstone-Millville High School provides a safe learning environment where students attain the skills needed for success in a global society. Students develop critical and creative thinking skills that enable them to solve problems by working collaboratively, communicating effectively, and using technology responsibly. In preparation for life-long learning, the school community fosters respect for self, an appreciation for diversity, and high ethical standards.

EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENT LEARNING

Students will:
1. communicate using a variety of mediums.
• speak effectively in a variety of circumstances.
• write for different purposes and audiences.
• listen actively and critically.
• read fiction, non-fiction, and technical texts.
• use technology to communicate ideas.
• use appropriate mathematical notations and/or language to communicate concepts.
• read, write, speak, and understand at least one language other than their native one.

2. solve problems by researching, organizing, and synthesizing information.
• design and carry out experiments/projects and collect and analyze data to formulate conclusions.
• identify and design techniques for solving problems.
• interpret and create tables, models, diagrams, and graphs.
• use both the knowledge of language and culture to approach problems.

3. understand and demonstrate how to make healthy choices.
• set goals and make healthy life decisions.
• explain the relationship between healthy behavior and the prevention of injury, illness, and disease.
• understand their role and responsibility in maintaining a healthy environment.
