The
John F. Kennedy Elementary School is an early learning center
for students from pre-K through grade three. The instructional
program focuses on experiences, which provide for active exploration
of the environment. It utilizes guided discovery, concrete experiences,
and both structured and unstructured opportunities for play. Academic
skills are developed and enhanced through small group instruction
and independent activities.
At the Kennedy
School, the education of our children is a shared responsibility
of families, school and community since these early years of a
child's education are fundamental to their future success as lifelong
learners and contributing members of society. We believe that
our children should have a sound base of experiences that are
essential for later learning, an excitement and curiosity for
learning, and a strong sense of self-esteem. In essence, we believe
that families and educators must support each child's unique development,
respect and celebrate individual differences, and promote each
child's fundamental right to learn in a safe, educationally appropriate
environment.
