*** 2007 TOURNAMENT PHOTO ALBUM ***

The event will again be a FLORIDA STYLE A-B-C-D SCRAMBLE SHOTGUN DOUBLE START TOURNAMENT.  If you didn't join last year and the name sounds a little chaotic, it merely means that we will have lots of people on the course (144) playing 18 holes simultaneously. Each double group of 4 players starts on one of eighteen holes and proceeds through the course to the hole at which they started.  The A-B-C-D part of the name refers to 4 players in each group.  We prefer that the players be of varying skill levels, but that is flexible.  Florida Style Scramble refers to best ball type play.  Thus, if you are a novice (never hit a golf ball in your life except for the one you kicked in a parking lot near a driving range), that's O.K.  If your shot goes into the woods, water or lands four feet from the tee and one of your partners hits a beautiful 250 yard drive down the center of the course, the placement in the center of the course is where your second shot takes place.

j0121037.wmf (91570 bytes)Here's the best part.  Everyone must drive in a golf cart, wear a collar shirt and at least look like they know what they are doing.  You are not allowed to throw your clubs in the pond or drive your golf cart in those inviting dunes we call sand traps.  For those competitive types we have a MONEY HOLE, GRAND PRIZE HOLE, LONGEST DRIVE HOLE, AND CLOSEST TO THE LINE HOLE.  After the 18 holes of golf is played and you've had great fun with your colleagues and friends, you are provided with a Roast Chicken Dinner in the CLUB HOUSE BANQUET ROOM.  It gets even better.  The GRAND PRIZE is then awarded, along with dozens of other raffle prizes. All raffle prizes will be awarded on the day of the tournament to the players and volunteers who participate in the process. Prizes such as gift certificates to restaurants, Radios, Golf Clubs, Golf Bags, Condo Vacations, various other gift certificates, etc. will be available.

It will be a full day of fun beginning at 8:00 AM and ending after dinner (scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM).  Your team may be made up of yourself and fellow staff members or you may want to include your wife or husband on your team.  It is up to you.  When you submit your completed entry form, we'd like you to include the names of the entire foursome on one form.  Please do not submit multiple entry forms. The entry forms were sent to you via e-mail earlier.  We ask that they be returned to Keith Ducharme's mailbox at BMRHS.

j0090451.wmf (7246 bytes)   The tournament is restricted to the first 144 entries. All are welcome to join in the fun. We do not require that one of the players on the four member team be a district staff member.

The entry cost and requirements are listed on the application.  The cost will include the greens fees, golf cart, dinner and a chance at winning the grand prize and other prizes.  All proceeds will go to the Blackstone-Millville Education Foundation for the benefit of Blackstone-Millville Regional School District students. Again, when you complete your entry form within the next two weeks, return it ASAP.  We need the entry forms  to adequately plan the event. j0157287.wmf (9520 bytes)

We have also begun plans to get more corporate sponsors to sponsor each of the 18 holes.  More than thirty companies and individuals "SPONSORED HOLES" last year . If you know of a sponsor and can assist in acquiring that fee, we would love your assistance. Joan DuRocher mentioned a great concept to help the cause. She suggested that teachers may want to get together in small groups to sponsor a hole on behalf of that particular group of individuals or they may want to attach a name to their sponsor (JFK Grade 3 Teachers, Middle School Purple Team, The HS English Department, etc.). BMEF has distributed approximately $5,000.00 - $7,000.00 each year. These grants awarded to teachers and staff within our school district. Our goal is to increase the level of funding during the 2008-2009 school year. We thank you for your consideration.

If you are able to get sponsors for us, that would be greatly appreciated. Sponsor contributions and levels vary,  please download our sponsor form here (sponsor application).  The name of the sponsor will be placed prominently at a particular hole. We will also be seeking media attention. Thus, a sponsor may be mentioned in a newspaper publication. If you have a sponsor or wish to sponsor, please contact either Keith Ducharme, Everett Campbell or Joan DuRocher. We hope to see you on the links in August!
