IMPORTANT DATES TO KNOW ABOUT:
  • November:
    8 th grade
    students can sign up for the Norfolk Agricultural High School presentation.
  • Norfolk Agricultural High School will be coming in to talk to our students about their school.
  • BVT will be presenting to our 8th grade students an overview of their program of study.
  • Students may sign up for a trip to Blackstone Valley Technical Vocational High School (BVT) during their lunch with Mrs. Oliveira. Students who have signed up will go to BVT for a tour of the school. Parents who are interested in chaperoning are welcome, but must complete a CORI application two weeks prior to the tour date.
  • January :
    Students will be given the first part of the application for BVT.
    (4 essay questions which may be asked during the interview)
    When these questions are answered and returned, applications will be given to students to take home to their parents/guardians
  • January 10, 2007 :
    BVT Parent-Applicant Night 6-8 p.m. at BVT. Snow date is January 11, 2007
     
  • February 2, 2007 :
    Applications are due to BVT.
  •  March:
    BVT interviews which will be held at FWH Middle School .
  • March 30, 2007 : Deadline for submitting the Nonresident Application form to our Superintendents office.
  • April:
    Applicant notification for BVT and Norfolk Aggie

SOME OF OUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Providing career, personal/social, and academic guidance.
  • Teaching a developmental guidance course. Units focus on career exploration, bullying prevention, assertiveness, respect for self and others, character education, learning styles and study skills.
  • Advocating for all students to enhance educational experience and learning outcome.
  • Providing individual and small group prevention programs.
  • Providing parent information.
  • Providing referrals for outside counseling and testing.
  • Performing community outreach.
  • Providing information on high school programs including vocational schooling options.
  • Functioning as a resource between parents and teachers.
  • Partnering with administration, nursing, and wellness educators.
  • Meeting with academic teams and parents/guardians.
  • Assisting with student transitions and registration.
  • Coordinating bi-weekly progress reports.
  • Developing student schedules.
  • Participating in IEP meetings when necessary.
