April 13, 2007 BMR Announces March “Random Act of Kindness” BLACKSTONE…Seniors Jessica Petriello and Jeffery Hill are the March recipients for BMR’s “Random Act of Kindness” award according to Principal Richard A. Porter. “In continuing to recognize the students who make this school special, I am pleased to recognize these two senior class members” said Porter. Petriello was recognized for having helped a student whose books and belongings had been dropped and were scattered in a crowded hallway. She is the daughter of Anthony and Valerie Petriello of Blackstone. After graduation, she will be attending Continuing Education program at Tri County Regional Vocational Technical High School for Cosmetology. Hill, the son of Donald and Jane Hill of Blackstone is captain of the Chargers’ cross-country and track teams. He has been in both programs for six years having started as a seventh grader. The act that won him recognition was spending time with a freshman to explain how BMR and its cross-country team experience have influenced his life. He will attend the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in September. The Random Act of Kindness program was started in December 2006 by Porter as a way to acknowledge the seemingly “little kindnesses that make a difference” that are often lacking in modern life. Students are nominated by faculty and other students and if selected receive a certificate and giftcard to local businesses. Blackstone-Millville Regional High School was established in 1970. It consists of students from the towns of Blackstone and Millville, is located at 175 Lincoln Street in Blackstone, Massachusetts and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges.
