We are very pleased to report that the Blackstone-Millville Education Foundation (BMEF) voted to approve thirteen (13) grants last evening, Wednesday, November 28, 2001. The chart below lists the grant name, the people awarded the grant and the amount of the grant. The grant requests and subsequent approvals represented all five schools. All grants were approved for the full amount of the request.

We thank the applicants for their well thought out and detailed requests. The original intention was to fund only $4,000.00 in requests, but we voted to fund the entire $5,889.25.

Mrs. Roberta Laquidara, BMEF President, will send formal letters informing teachers of their successful application(s). BMEF strives to support the BMR educational community and provide opportunities for teachers and staff to introduce activities and programs tied to the school improvement plans of each school.

BMEF will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, January 16, 2002. At that meeting we will discuss plans for the 2nd Annual BMEF Golf Tournament. This tournament was very successful last year. Our goal is to double the amount of players from 72 to 144. Our initial thought is to hold the tournament on a Saturday after the conclusion of the school year. A Saturday date would make the tournament more attractive to a greater number of potential players. As we move forward with our plans, we will keep you informed.
