The BMRDSC has scheduled a meeting for 7:00 PM August 10, when it is expected they will vote to incur debt for the proposed middle school. The District School Committee is expected to approve debt in the amount of $20,750,000 for the middle school project.

Once the vote to incur debt has been taken, the District School Committee will notify the towns of Blackstone and Millville through their respective board of selectmen. The vote, and subsequent notification, is expected to lead to a special town meeting in each of the communities seeking approval from the residents for the project.

It is anticipated that Blackstone will hold a special town meeting September 18th and that Millville will set a special town meeting for September 25th. If either town requires a referendum it will be scheduled for October 2nd.

In order to inform the residents of the two towns, the District School Committee will be releasing a video to the local access cable channels in early August. In addition, public meetings will be held in both towns in late August or early September seeking public input and to provide the residents with information regarding the $20,750,000 project. Once approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education, the proposed middle school project will be eligible for a reimbursement rate of 81.5% of the principal and interest.

Residents of both towns are encouraged to attend the public meetings to gather information and express their opinions regarding the middle school project.
