SMOKING ON SCHOOL PREMISES:

The use of tobacco products is prohibited within school buildings, school facilities, on school buses and on school grounds under the jurisdiction of the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District.

The following procedures and practices will be implemented in order to enforce the Tobacco Products Policy:

STUDENTS:
Specific rules and regulations will be published in the individual handbooks of the school buildings and applied accordingly.

BLACKSTONE-MILLVILLE REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL:
The use of tobacco is strictly forbidden in school, on school buses, and at all school functions on or off school grounds. Violators of this regulation will be attended to severely. Any violation of this rule will result in out-of-school suspension.

Students who violate the Tobacco Products Policy will be referred to individuals or agencies in an effort to provide them with a cessation program.

SCHOOL PERSONNEL:
School personnel violating the Tobacco Products Policy will be referred to individuals or agencies in an effort to provide them with a cessation program.

FIRST INFRACTION
Verbal warning from the building principal, and referral to a cessation program.

SECOND INFRACTION
Written reprimand from the building principal, and referral to a cessation program.

THIRD INFRACTION
Meeting with the Superintendent or designee. Three day suspension without pay. Referral and required participation in a cessation program. Note: Suspension may be waived upon successful completion of a cessation program.

FOURTH INFRACTION
Meeting with the Superintendent. Termination of employment may be considered. Infractions will be recorded on a twelve (12) month basis. At the start of a new twelve (12) month period, infractions revert back one level of infraction. However, if a level three has been reached during the previous twelve (12) month period, the employee starts the new twelve (12) month period at level three.
