TEMPORARY BUS TRANSFERS

Pupils may be allowed to change buses for the following reasons:

1. Students with daily employment responsibilities as verified by the receipt of written notification by the employer.

2. Students requesting transfers to attend Scouting, 4-H, private lessons (music, dance), or are involved in other similar activities on a regular basis will be allowed based on the capacity of the bus(es).

3. A death or serious illness in the family.

4. Permanent or long term (three weeks or more) transportation arraingements whereby students are transported to the same stops each day. For example: A working mother may wish to place the student on the bus at their own home but have the student return to the home of a baby sitter or relative. These requests are to be approved only within the limits of the established transportation routes at each school. Such requests should be made in writing at least 48 hours in advance unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Examples of bus transfer routes that are refused because of scheduling difficulties are:

1. Students wishing to visit friends, relatives, or acquaintances.

2. When parents are required to be out of town and students are to be supervised by relatives or friends.

COMMITTEE AUTHORIZES THE SUPERINTENDENT TO USE DISCRETION IN EXECUTION OF THIS POLICY.
