Welcome to Blackstone-Millville Regional School District and our rapidly improving website. We are implementing changes to make our website easier to use with updated content and we welcome your comments as we work to make our website work for all in our educational community.
We are pleased to announce that one of our own teachers, Dr. Kathy Boisvert who teaches pre-school at Millville Elementary School, was honored on June 15, 2017 at a ceremony at the State House as one of the five finalists for the Massachusetts 2018 Teacher of the Year award. We are proud of the work the Dr. Boisvert does for our students each day and congratulate her on this recognition.
Thank you to all in both communities for supporting the FY18 School Budget. The District had to make reductions and layoffs in staffing, programs, and instructional materials to meet that approved number of $22,458,471 and still more funding is needed to meet all of the needs of our students. By working together to look at long term solutions, we will insure the sustainability and success of the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District. There are still members of our communities who remember the formation of BMR fifty years ago this August to provide the very best and most efficient delivery of education to all students. Our graduates have gone on to be valuable and contributing members of our society and it is our mission to provide the same opportunities for the next generation.
We say goodbye to Dr. David Thomson, our Assistant Superintendent, and our principals of JFK Elementary School and the Hartnett Middle School, Ms. Varsha Desai and Mr. Justin Cameron; and we wish them well in their new roles. Joining the Administrative Team are Ms. Tonya Curt Hoard as Principal of the Hartnett Middle School and Mr. Steven Tringali as the Principal of the Kennedy Elementary School. I know they are excited to be at BMRSD and will look forward to meeting all students, staff, and parents over the summer. The first day for all staff is Tuesday August 29, 2017 and the first day of school for all students will be Wednesday August 30, 2017.
My best wishes for a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer to all.
