Students begin by watching videos on manufacturing systems and manufacturing technology to obtain an understanding of the manufacturing process. Lectures and demonstrations on lab safety, machine and hand tool use, sanding and finishing provide the students with the background necessary to complete their project. Unlike the previous project, this is an individual project. Intertwined throughout this unit are a library research project (manufacturing timeline), homework assignments, and two written exams designed to correspond with the MCAS. The manufactured product, gives your child a sense of accomplishment.
