TRAGEDY: Tragedy deals with a main character, or protagonist, who decides on a course of action against what the audience knows are impossible odds; s/he suffers as a result of a decision, and ultimately perceives the discrepancy between personal objectives and the order of the universe, an order which will not permit the achievement of goals. Tragedy involves a net that tightens around the protagonist, in spite of and even because of efforts to escape it.
