SCARLET LETTER DESIGN

Using your knowledge of Nathaniel Hawthorne's design of Hester Prynne's scarlet letter, work with a partner to design a replica of the emblem. Remember the discovery of the letter by Hawthorne at the Custom House? Use that image from the movie along with the author's descriptions in the early chapters of the novel as you sew, embroider, knit, glue, or otherwise piece together your materials.

• The size limit of your design is 9x12 (the size of an average piece of notebook paper).
• Do not use tape, glitter, or other materials which will detract from your end product.
• Place your names on the back of your project.
• Be ready to "show and tell" your project to the class.
• Late projects will receive no credit.
