What is an internship?

  • A non-traditional learning experience

  • An opportunity for a student to explore a potential career/job by working at a worksite

  • Learn first hand about a particular industry or occupation.

What is involved in an internship?

  • Minimum of 40 hours of work

  • Periodic updates with internship supervisor

  • ½ credit

  • pass/fail course

  • all work is unpaid

Where can I do an internship?

  • Several internships are available here at BMR for juniors and seniors

  • Internships may also be set up at workplaces outside the school

  • Examples of past internships: law enforcement, elementary teacher, medical facilities

Why would I want to do do an internship?

  • Course credit (1/2 credit)

  • Find out more about a job/career

  • Have this experience to list on college, scholarship, and job applications; add to your resume

  • Put your study time to good use

When can I do an internship?

  • BMR internships can be done during the day if you have a study hall, and/or before and after school

  • Hours for internships at off-campus sites are set up by the employer, student, and internship supervisor
