Destruction of Special Education Records


The Massachusetts Student Record Regulations (603.CMR 23.06) requires public school districts to destroy student Special Education Records no later than seven (7) years after a student transfers, graduates, or, withdrawal from the school system.

In accordance with applicable state and federal regulations, the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District does hereby notify you of its intent to destroy student special education records for students that graduated, transferred or withdrew, on or before June 2018. The special education records to be destroyed include, but are not limited to, documentation contained within your child’s/your temporary student record.

Anyone wishing to request their original Special Education Records, before they are destroyed, should submit a written request to Blackstone-Millville Regional School District, Department of Learner Support Services, 200 Lincoln Street Blackstone, MA 01504 or via email to jhernandez@bmrsd.net. by October 31, 2022. Receipt of your request will be confirmed. If you do not receive confirmation of your request by November 4, 2022, please contact Jenn Hernandez at 508-876-0142, as records will be destroyed and unavailable after November 7, 2022.
